Wireless communications provider American Tower, Inc. has partnered Dover International Speedway in an agreement that will see a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) installed at the track.
The new system, due to be completed in time for the spring race weekend in 2014, will enhance mobile phone services and network capacity around the venue.
American Tower will install antennae throughout the facility with the goal of preventing mobile networks from becoming overburdened during race weekends.
Mike Tatoian, the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Dover Motorsports, Inc. commented: “Essentially, the DAS will enhance mobile connectivity for our fans, sponsors, media and race teams on event weekends,”
“With the evolution of smartphone technology, and the ability for our fans to get so much more out of their experience through channels like the Nascar mobile app, connectivity is key while attending race weekends,” he added.
The Nascar Sprint Cup Series will return to Dover International Speedway on 1st July 2014.
